A kit I have been wanting to do - Asriel by Jorja Pigott

Jorja Pigott has created a kit for me that screams African baby so I had to order three :-) I have been wanting to work on him but needed to get a few others in first but have been so excited to get busy on this sweet little one - Asriel. Here we go.....

A blank kit on the left and mottled on the right, my first kit with a belly plate and anatomically correct as well.

A few color washes, a long way to go on this little man.

 A bit of color....

...and a bit more.

Now for some close ups.

Now for a side by side comparison. this is the first time I have been able to do this due to the fact that I have three of this kit. I was amazed to see what a difference two days and many layers of paint can do to a vinyl kit!!!!!!

Some shading and some eyes, such a little man we have now.

Even though I have had to sadly take a break from reborning due to moving out of state I had to dress him up before he got packed away to make a long journey. Once all set up I will be finishing him up so he can find his new mommy. I hope you enjoyed seeing my version of Asriel, he is a love to be sure.

Asriel now has hair, it took over 60 hours to directionally micro root his head full of gorgeous black curly mohair. I have also learned how to watermark my photos!!! I am now going to post several photos from his photo shoot!!!

Love how much the painting turned out, his vinyl truly looks like skin!!! I love his belly plate!!!

Some of the goodies that Asriel will come home with!!!

Please enjoy Asriel's photo shoot;

He was adopted by a dear friend of mine in California, Debbie, enjoy his box opening!!! I am so happy that Debbie is going to be his mommy. He is such a special little boy and now lives with a very special family!!!

My first girl!!!! Adelynn by Emily Jameson.

I was very excited to work on this kit, the details are amazing and her mouth is so lovely!!!! Someone was selling this on Facebook so I decided to get her and see what I could do with her sweet self.

Here she is waiting to see how she will look as an African baby!!!

Here we go..... just look at those lips!!!

Here she is getting quite dark, I am loving working on this kit, she is oh so sweet!!!!

A close up of her sweet face!!!

Alright everyone, time for the blanket body, I am in love!!!!!!! The index finger that is pointing up reminds me of a baby I cared for in an Ethiopian orphanage.

Her limbs are marked my nursery name - Kymberlee's Cocoon :-)

The sweetest little face, I just love how she came to life!!! Thank you Emily for such an amazing kit!!!

A close up of her hand...

Please enjoy a few photos of this sweet little African girl named Amaya!!!!

Playborn - a different kind of reborn

It was while I was at DEDS that I came across this little kit, it is called a playborn. This kit is sold by MacPherson Arts and Crafts. The have teamed up with a doll company in Spain, the company has take the vinyl body off and created the channels we use to attach the limbs to the cloth body so that you can make a reborn for a younger girl. I was looking for kits with more of an African facial structure and this kit fit the bill. I was not 100% thrilled with the built in curls but since I have to learn to root maybe not such a bad thing after all :-)

Here are the mottling and color washes along with some layers of color.

Here is a close up of his face, he is gorgeous!!! He has the sweetest lips and eyes!!!!

A closer look at his limbs!!!

My famous wooly blanket body, it really does make a lovely body to see how the baby is going to turn out, I am loving him so far.

Love his little tilted head :-)

All dressed in an outfit that suits him so very well!!!!

A magnet has been added so he can take a magnetic pacifier, I love how this one fits his mouth.

Here is a look at the built in curly hair, it did not turn out too bad but I must learn to root so I can give them heads full of lovely hair, maybe my next baby...

Lovely little legs, I have you have enjoyed watching this little playborn come to life.

This baby has been adopted and resides in a private collection.
